Early Intervention

The Foundation for Growth

Early childhood is a critical period for neurological and developmental growth. Our paediatric Occupational Therapy early intervention services in Kathu support infants and toddlers (ages 0–3) who are at risk for, or experiencing, developmental delays.

Through a play-based, family-centred approach, we work with caregivers to develop foundational skills in sensory processing, early motor development (such as reaching, rolling, crawling, and walking readiness), as well as early social-emotional and cognitive skills.

Our goal is to support each child’s development during these formative years, building a strong foundation for future learning, independence, and everyday participation.

Milestone Tracking

Supporting infants in achieving key developmental milestones such as sitting, crawling, and walking.

Play-Based Learning

Using play to develop foundational functional skills and underlying components of development.

Feeding Support

Assisting with feeding development, including transitioning to solids and managing selective eating.

Parental Coaching

Empowering caregivers with practical strategies to support development and carryover at home.

Early Screening

Identifying potential developmental challenges early to support participation in key occupational areas such as sleep, learning, play, independence, and social interaction.

Sensory Integration

Regulating the Individual Experience

Many developmental challenges stem from how the brain processes information from the senses. Our sensory integration therapy addresses difficulties with touch, movement, and environmental stimuli. By using a controlled, therapeutic environment, we help children improve their self-regulation, assist with sensory defensiveness or sensory under responsiveness, and increase their ability to focus and participate in daily activities.

Emotional Regulation

Reducing meltdowns or outbursts caused by sensory overload.

Improved Focus

Helping the brain filter out background noise or visual clutter to concentrate.

Body Awareness

Enhancing the sense of where the body is in space to prevent clumsiness.

Motor Planning

Teaching the brain how to sequence complex movements for physical tasks.

Tactile Desensitization

Helping those who are over-sensitive to certain textures, clothing, or foods.

Developmental Skills

Mastering Functional Independence

This pillar focuses on the practical application of OT. Developmental skills encompasses fine motor development, gross motor coordination, visual perception and executive functioning. We provide targeted occupational therapy to help individuals master the "occupations" of their daily lives—whether that is succeeding in a classroom environment or achieving greater independence in daily living tasks.

Fine Motor Precision

Strengthening hand skills for handwriting, tool use, and functional tasks.

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

Developing independence in self-care skills such as dressing, grooming, and buttoning.

Visual-Perceptual Skills

Improving visual processing and eye–brain coordination for reading, writing, and spatial awareness.

Executive Functioning

Supporting skills such as organisation, planning, time management, and following multi-step instructions.

Strength & Coordination

Promoting appropriate social engagement, emotional regulation, and healthy sleep routines.

DYSLEXIA AND SCHOOL SUPPORT

support of dyslexia within Occupational Therapy

This pillar focuses on the assessment and support of dyslexia within Occupational Therapy practice. We contribute to the identification of dyslexia through comprehensive assessment and collaborate with families and schools in the application process for appropriate academic accommodations and concessions.

We provide targeted, evidence-based intervention to support children in developing the foundational skills required for successful learning. Through individualised, multisensory approaches, we help children improve their ability to engage in key academic tasks—such as reading, writing, and participating confidently in the classroom.

Dyslexia Assessment & Support

Comprehensive assessment to identify the type and profile of dyslexia, with guidance for appropriate academic accommodations and concessions.

Multisensory Learning Intervention

Using structured, multisensory approaches to strengthen reading, spelling, writing, and underlying literacy-related skills.

Cognitive & Processing Skills Development

Supporting key areas such as working memory, processing speed, and visual-perceptual skills to improve overall learning efficiency.

Parental & School Collaboration

Equipping caregivers and educators with practical strategies to support learning and ensure consistent carryover at home and in the classroom.

Early Identification & Support

Identifying early signs of dyslexia and learning difficulties to support timely intervention and reduce impact on academic participation.
